Honduran Textile Mill Salvages Floors with DuraFill, CHEMCLAD & ENECLAD

Over 14,500 sq. ft. of floors inside a major textile mill located in Honduras were damaged from chemicals used in the textile dyeing process and traffic from material handling trucks and lifts. The mill’s engineers wanted a coating system that could offer years of protection as well as easy cleaning.

The floors were manually prepared with grinding tools to remove the old, failing epoxy coating then cleaned with a solvent. ENECRETE DuraFill, mixed with sand, was used to repair holes and any imperfections of the concrete’s surface. After these repairs were madea mixture of DuraFill and very fine sand was screed with a trowel to level the surface and prime for the top coat.

Two coats of CHEMCLAD SC were applied to the areas exposed to potential chemical spills with a light quartz sand broadcast and backrolled onto the surface for slip resistant properties. In other less aggressive environments of the mill, ENECLAD FPS was applied along with CHEMCLAD SC in Safety Yellow for required safety striping.
