Aviation fuel storage tank in Romania protected with ENESEAL & CHEMCLAD

This large aviation fuel storage tank located in Romania was badly corroded. The aluminium top of the tank corroded over time due to many years of environmental exposure. The inside of the tank, exposed to the corrosive aviation fuel, had been previously protected with a coating. The original coating failed, causing the tank interior to be corroded as well.

The tank top was first mechanically prepared and sanded by hand. The weld seams were then stripe coated with ENESEAL HR. This was followed by two sprayed coats of ENESEAL HR over the entire top area.

After making some small repairs to the inside of the tank, the area was grit blasted to the required SA 3 roughness. CHEMCLAD SC was then applied to a thickness of 200 microns (8 mils).

The facility managers were very happy with the results, especially with the professionalism of the ENECON Romania Team.
