To repair and protect an impeller for a large split case cooling water pump

  • Products Used CeramAlloy CP+AC
  • Status Completed

After 10 Years in service on a 680 ft. Alaskan fish processing ship CeramAlloy coated pump impellers look like new

This 680 foot long processing ship assists smaller boats in the Alaskan fishing fleet to process nearly 3.2 million tons of fish every year.

In 2005, ENECON was contacted to repair and protect an impeller for a large split case cooling water pump. Because of its outstanding performance in erosion / corrosion environments, CeramAlloy was selected to complete these repairs.

After grit blasting, the severely damaged leading edges of the vanes were rebuilt using stainless steel mesh and CeramAlloy CP+AC. The entire impeller was then protected with two layers of CeramAlloy CL+AC.

Although the vessel’s maintenance logs confirm that the impeller did not have any maintenance performed for 10 years, it is clear from the photos below that the CeramAlloy is still in excellent condition.

Simply amazing!
