    To repair the tank

  • Products Used CHEMCLAD SC, DurAlloy, and FLEXICLAD PC
  • Status Completed

Located at a Pennsylvania power plant, this sixty-five foot diameter, one million gallon tank was sitting dormant for many years and had severely corroded.

There were holes in the tank walls and piping as well as leaks through the floor / wall seams. The lack of any regular maintenance had rendered this tank unusable.

The plant wanted to put the tank back into limited service. They needed it to be able to hold a few feet of runoff water. There was no budget for a replacement tank.

The plant engineers turned to ENECON for a solution after years of successful repairs and applications in other parts of the plant.

The existing coating was grit blasted off the tank walls eight feet high and all of the failed caulk from the floor / wall seam was removed.

The holes were repaired using METALCLAD DurAlloy. The walls then received two coats of CHEMCLAD SC. Once the CHEMCLAD was cured the entire floor / wall seam was sealed with FLEXICLAD PC.

This project took ten days to complete and the plant engineers were very happy with the money saved by not having to construct a new tank.
